Thursday, July 23, 2009 from 7:00 AM - 9:00 AM (ET)
The Social Media Breakfast was founded by Bryan Person in August 2007 as an event where social media experts and newbies alike come together to eat, meet, share, and learn. Marketers, PR pros, entrepreneurs, bloggers, podcasters, new-media fanatics, and online social networkers are all welcome to attend.
The breakfast series began in Boston and has now spread to dozens of cities throughout the United States and around the world.
Social Media Breakfast Atlanta is co-organized by Lane Bailey and Ken Cook. Lane is a prolific blogger and one of the top bloggers on the 150,000 member Active Rain real estate blog. Ken is also a prolific blogger, developer (not designer) and co-host of Social Media Edge Radio on BlogTalkRadio - consistently a top 2 listened show in the Social Media category.
This is the first monthly meeting in the Atlanta area and will be held at the Duluth Diner in Duluth. The Diner is located at 6260 Peachtree Industrial Boulevard 30096. Normally they are not open until 9AM but they will be opening exclusively for us. Since we have no idea how many people will be attending it is VERY important that you RSVP and show up. So while there is no RSVP fee there is a commitment to the man who owns and operates the diner - if you understand what I am saying.
IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN A LEADERSHIP ROLE it is very important you attend this first meeting as we are looking for leaders for 5 metro areas: Northeast (Gwinnett), Northwest (Cobb), Southwest (Riverdale), Southeast (Conyers) and Central (Buckhead/Midtown). While we realize it's a long drive to Duluth we want you to understand the importance of making the drive for this first meeting. Afterwards we'll drive to your location if you are present and installed as a co-organizer for your area.
Many larger cities have as many as 300 in attendance and we think that's a little large so we prefer 5 separate locations on rotating weeks with 50 to 100 at each breakfast.
The goal of Social Media Breakfast is the same as many associations and that is to network with one another, work together on outreach and evangelism to cross promote the membership and to support each other by doing business with members whenever suitable. Education is key and we will prefer members as speakers rather than bringing in outsiders.
The first meeting will be introductory and involve some establishment of directives for the metro Atlanta unit. There will be many different backgrounds, methods and ideals present. The focus of the SMB is Social Media, how it is used, how to better use it and sharing experiences with each other to learn and grow.
You can telephone Ken Cook at 678-946-0101 with more questions or suggestions.
